Houston Car Scene

A Quick question on facebook about how we value our car scene was just enough to spark interesting points of views from all types of people. There were the veterans, the noobs, The Stance, the drift and even from people who have experienced other scenes across the nation. Gabe Greene Stated that
“Houston is a great city for a car enthusiast. More meets and shows than a lot of cities. We have our issues, sure, but they are fairly miniscule.”
And he is right but what are the issues? The biggest common issue is car theft. At least a few times a week you can hop on the net and a fellow car enthusiast"s car has been stolen. It could be car specific, a lot of older Hondas and Truck thefts but all in all thefts effect the growth of a cities car scene because now you have people afraid to put money in their car just to get it stolen.

Then Dexter Bayack brought up an interesting perspective aboutwhat needs to improve. he says..

Being a veteran in the scene since 1979, there is more to it than just cars and meets. There is the business aspect of it. There are the shows which lack spectator turnout from people who are not in the scene. There is a lack of marketing, sponsors to drive and push the culture. There is lack of collaboration, clear vision and planning. If you notice Houston does not have it's own car show. The events mentioned are touring events from other cities. Most of which are either copying each other with no real value or innovation. We do not have any publications. The scene is fickle.

So yeah you go to a show and the majority of the spectators are car enthusiast, and Houston can be a dog eat dog scene. sometimes you will see certain groups who will only attend their own functions and support their own team. I personally believe There is absolutely No Reason to not support another group we are all in this for the same reason to showcase our hobby and to talk about it with others who share the same common interest.

Houston Car Scene

Even with the egos and the few 1 star ratings we still pulled a high 3. people love how big the Houston scene is and how versatile it is. from the underground street racing scene to the drift side and the hard parkers Houston has a hell of a scene. Luis Chavez says
“The car scene is huge in Houston believe it or not... I know so because I've been around the country and I definitely miss the H Tine car scene.”
Mike Valencia Explains
“Coming from someone who used to live in California for a few years I would have to say 4.5 stars because we always have something going on here..... and there's lots of nice people in the scene that are very friendly and make it what it is. Htown FTW!”

AT THE END OF THE DAY THE SCENE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT TO BE. WITHOUT YOU THE ENTHUSIAST, THE CREWS, THE MEDIA COVERAGE, ECT. THE SCENE WOULD BE NOTHING WITHOUT YOU. SO SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL CAR SCENE. GO TO MEETS ATTEND SHOWS AND BRING YOUR FRIENDS WITH YOU ITS ALL ABOUT HAVING FUN AND MEETING NEW PEOPLE
